A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

After a crazy year in 2019 where I sold my house and moved everything I own, the rest of my remaining years are mine. Dusting off the '80 GS1260 and going to run as much of the bike season as I can. T&T starts March 11. Ordered a NextUp shift controller, new Delkevic header, and RS38 carbs. Going to try to get it consistent before changing cams. I will post some pics with the header and carbs soon. I am not nearly as fearless as I once was but hopefully I can drop the clutch on the 2 step and trust it won't flip over...

Good for you, Bob.
I always like to follow along and live vicariously through people that head to the track/strip.

Is that without a bar on it? I hate two steps, i'm all hand clutch but i'm slow. Low 12's cause i enjoy running in ihra sportsman (12 flat or slower in the 1/4) at our local track against cars. I'm the slow guy in our bike class that i also run in. I finished 7th in points last year and my 32yr old son was 4th on his '04 gsxr1000.

Bob you better have a multi stage lock up or slider clutch if your throwing a clutch lever without bars.

Nope, single stage lockup set up pretty soft. And Throwing is more like slipping through first gear. It is a 1260 with bigger intakes and some port work, but stock cams because I wanted to get enough seat time to get comfortable before going crazy. Maybe if the budget allows later I will upgrade the clutch and cams. Can't really do a slider because I want to go by myself without a tow back. Only run high 11's and 1.8 60 now but more than a second is for sure the rider. Stock WB too. Well, 1 over but that hardly counts. I am too old to have expectations higher than having fun....

They sell an air clutch that is adjustable for how fast it throws the clutch, Less than $500 all in. Ask Trip how to plumb it.You hold the 2nd button in at the line and release on the last yellow. It worked great on my previous bike. 9.30's at 135 ish.

Hot and sticky out yesterday, 1/8th mile this week, went 4 rounds in street and semis in bike/sled. Had r/ts of .0005 and a .0002 in a couple of them...

WIR has a race every year that a local Harley dealer (that runs an old fuel bike) rents the track and gives the gate to a charity. They have one class that we can run in along with the tractors. Last year my son went as far as the semi's and i was runner up. (yeah, i red-lighted) This year he won the final. There was a guy on a sportster that i've seen run there several years that had a .479 light against me, i'e never seen one that bad before...
