    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Brake Light Adjustment and Headlight Indicator.

So I got the old GS1100 back on the road this weekend. I've got a couple quick questions. 1) is there any way to adjust the sensitivity on the front brake light switch? I replaced all the brakes (except the brake handle/master cylinder which is still my 1100 stuff) with gs1150 stuff and I don't have to pull the lever as much to stop (but it does stop great!). So now when Im stopping the brake light doesn't come on as soon as Id like.
2) the "Headlight" indicator usually stays on but sometimes goes out (the red one, not the high beams)- The headlight works fine. Is there an easy way (aside from a piece of tape over the light) that the indicator light can be disconnected or otherwise turned off?

Can't help you with the headlight indicator issue, but the brake switch IS adjustable. :encouragement:

First of all, does the light actually come on if you squeeze the lever hard?
Just making sure the switch actually works before trying to adjust it.

Look under the brake lever perch, you will see the switch. At each end of the housing you will see a small screw. Loosen each one about 1/2 turn, you might be able to slide the housing. Sliding it toward the end of the handlebar will make the light come on sooner.

NOTE: (WARNING) Those screws are not very long and there are very small pieces inside, which just LOVE to hide in small cracks on the floor. Some have rigged a pillowcase around the handlebar, then reached inside to make the adjustment. The pillowcase will catch any pieces that fall. It is sometimes possible to loosen the clamp for the master cylinder and rotate the whole assembly so the switch is facing UP. Parts don't fall out as easily that way.

Thanks Steve. I'm in the same situation re brake light. Have taken to dabbing the rear in heavy traffic just in case any of them are actually looking up from texting.
Pillow case eh ?
I suppose it won't be the strangest request I've made.
 
Or you can use a transparent plastic bag around the throttle/brake lever, so you can still see what you are doing, and catch all the flying bits just in case!
