Brake light stuck on

Ok, so the brake light sticks or flickers. i've narrowed it down to the switch at the front brake lever. I pulled it apart and can see how it works, put it back together and still have problems. Pulled it back apart and then of course, dropped it and lost the spring (doh!). Oh well, was planning on putting new levers on the bars anyways. I see that the stock has the switch as part of the lever assembly.

doesn't seem to be set up that way. I haven't ordered it yet, just wondering how I set this back up if I do. and what about the brake reservoir? basically i'm fixing problems, and going for a somewhat Cafe look.

in the mean time i plan on having the connecting piece left out, and just rely on the brake pedal to turn the brake light on. unless this is gonna cause a problem.

Go with the hydraulic switch that goes in the brake line.

Good that you tracked it down.

Either the switch has internal problems, like metal dust making a path across the contacts, but you have cleaned that up.
... or it needs adjustment.
It can side back and forth. It doesn't have to go in just one place. Just loosen the screws and move it back some.
but, you lost some of the internals.

Entire switch can be replace for something like $18. Comes with the wiring leads/connector.


That lever is a clutch cable lever (not brake lever) .. and looks fairly generic .. and don't see place for the clutch switch.

+1. You can buy banjo bolts with a pressure switch built into them. Completely solves the problem of a crappy design that now has 35+ years of wear on it.
