A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

when i hit the brake, not full on, but nice and easy for a slow down

i get a pulsing in the front brake lever
and the bike tends to jump some too
its almost like on off on off on off
is this the antidive?

i replaced the brake pads and made sure the calipers could slide back and forth on the slides
the reason i did the brakes was because i had this problem and they would squeal when i touched the brakes (previous owner wore them down to the metal)

anything i should look for?
any ideas?

Yep, GS1100EZ's are famous for warped front rotors and the brake lever will act exactly like yours is. Get a dial indicator on there and see.

If you spring for new rotors torque them properly with a torque wrench, that will help keep them from warping.

Frankly, I've seen one pucker stop from top speed warp GS1100EZ rotors. I believe the ED's are the same but there were far fewer of those back when, we sold a couple hundred EZ's and only a couple dozen ED's so I've got less data points.

EZs: Twisted cranks and warped rotors. Im on my second crank and third rotor set.

PS: Speed wobbles (steering head bearings) & Blown RRs

First of all check your rotors, especially if there's been metal contact with the shoes.
Does the whole front end jump up and down ? How many miles on the bike ? Are the symptoms you describe only when braking ?

Just thinking it could be a steering stem bearing.:)

Ugh, that reminds me that i need to add "rear brake pads" to the list of things i need to get for my RF900. All those suggestions aside, get it checked, you may be lucky and just find that there's a possibility that the disc is mounted lopsidedly as opposed to being bent.

there are almost 16k on the bike
it only does it when im on the brakes

i would say the front end does move up and down a little but thats prob due to the brakes coming on and off

will gs1100l rotors work on the e?

my father has 2 sets in the basement for his ls id like to throw them on to make sure its the rotors that are the problem, even tho that was my first incling

it apears they are the same part number

is there any reason why the e eats them more then the ls?

Could be riding style. When I was younger and rode my E with reckless abandon (aka wes cooley wana be) I warped 2 sets. Now I ride it like an L and they seem to be fine.

PS: Your pulsing brake lever is definitely warped rotors but have you ever tightened or adjusted the steering head bearing torque ? Its easy to do but you have to do it with the triple tree fork clamps loose.

No question rotors.

If you can't check them with a run out indicator, use a piece of glass pane. Lay the rotor down on it gently (flat side). The rotor will rock slightly and or you can slip a piece of paper between it and the glass. Even a few thou will cause a problem.

Hope this helps.

cheers,
Spyug
