    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Broken Pilot fuel screws

So I was rebuilding my carbs, with new o-rings and gaskets, when I realized that the PO had broken the pilot fuel screws in the carb body. I can't see the tips come through the carb either.
First Question: Should I be able to see clean through the pilot fuel screw's hole? Also I would like some tips on getting those tips out, I have tried poking them out with a pin but they would not budge.
Second question: When I took apart the slide assembly I didn't look at the order that the plastic washers and spring where in. Can someone tell me it what order it is assembled?

I just spent the day shooting Pb blaster in the hole, and boiling the carbs. At least they are really clean now. I also made a sharp tool but the hole is too small so shove anything in there. I was not able to get one of them out. What are some extreme measures I can take? I was at least able to put the slide assembly together correctly.
 
Getting those tips out is a true PITA.

On the needle question, the thick spacer goes on top, unless you are shimming the needle with a stack of washers in place of that spacer or by reversing the spacers with thin up and thick below.

Did you go to cliff's site and look at the tutorial like he suggested?

I did read it. I made a sharp point on a small screw driver like this:

My case is a little different than his in that the tips are no sticking out of the body nor are they flush with the body. They are inside the body. I can't make contact with them. I guess I will make the point on the screwdriver even finer and try again.

The one that I found broken off I had to use a pin vise with a very small bit. If you use this method be extra careful not to enlarge the hole.
