A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

BS (CV) Main Jet Size

Did you check the STICKY at the top about factory carb setting stuff???

Hi Chuck, Sorry if I didn't phrase my question properly. I did read the chart which states the main jet is #112.5. The Mikuni #112.5 main jet is available in a " small " main jet as well as a " large " main jet. The chart does not specify which one is correct.

I did find a listing on eBay that stated the " small " main jet was the correct one, which is what I ordered.

Just thought I would ask since I will not be opening up the carbs until next weekend and have time to order the others if the smalls are incorrect.

My 83 550e has 2 different size main jets. The 2 center cylinders have 102.5 mains and the outer 2 cylinders have 95 mains. My 550 is a 16 valve TSCC motor with the Siamese carbs. Not sure if the 1100is the same configuration.

Hope this helps,
Don

Thanks Don...I don't know a ting about your carb setup. However, the 4 mains on the BS carbs are the same.

Hes talking about the physical size of the jets here. Minkuni makes a "large" type and a "small" type. My BS34's use large type jets. I had to learn this the hard way when like you, I ordered small type jets off ebay.

Yep, the BS34SS carbs on a GS1100 use the large head main jets. Should have asked before you ordered.

Rich, why don't you order from Suzuki, Parts Outlaw $5.92 each (was that a set of 4 or $12 each?)

David,

Yes, that was for a set of 4. I had already placed an order with my supplier for a bunch of parts, realized I didn't order the mains and thought I would just make a quick transaction on eBay!

I had a 50/50 shot of getting it right. I was told that the performance is the same and the smalls will work just fine. A little research showed that the only difference is the width of the head. The length of both the threads and the head are identical.

With that said, I am not in a rush so I will order the large mains (already ordered) and consider that I now have 4 good reasons to search for another bike!
