    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

BS32SS Float Height

In the process of rebuilding a rack of carbs according to the tutorial on Basscliff's website. Adjusting the float height to the needed 22.4mm really seems to set things at the extremes of their adjustment. Picture #1 references the float height set at 20mm to go any farther I would have to bend more things. It just doesnt look right. I can tell that the PO had the carbs apart, the original float height was 9mm. Should I proceed to bend things enough to get the desired 22.4mm or am I missing something? I have searched the forums and the internet for this issue but I was unable to find a definitive answer.

How are you measuring the float height? It looks like you're MUCH higher then you should be. The carb #2 is not set to 9mm. 9mm is just a tad over 1/3". The measurement is between the gasket seating surface and the top of the float. In your case it's the top of the float right after the top ledge step down.
 
Those tabs should almost be flush with the surrounding metal. Yours are bent way too much.
There is a picture on this forum that was posted by Steve that shows how to measure the float height.

Measuring with a digital caliper according to what I found in the service manual as well as the photos on Basscliff's website. I will double check to make sure my caliper isn't defective. I picked it up from Northern Tool so it isn't exactly Starrett quality. Thanks all.
 
Are you sure it wasn't outputting in inches? 0.9 inches would be very close to the right height (0.88 inches).
