    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Bubbles In Brake Fluid?

I just replaced my brake lines with the Goodrich ones from Z1 and everything seemed to go fine.

But as I bleed the brakes, it seems like I can't get rid of the bubbles. I did put some teflon tape on the bleeders. But no matter how much fluid I push through, I seem to still get small bubbles.

The brake lever feels VERY firm and I have no leaks anywhere. I am bleeding the brakes with a mity vac.

Any thoughts/ideas?

I have suffered this problem... took 3 litres before the bubbles stopped.

you could try....

1. While you have a caliper bleed nipple cracked, remove the MC lever and push the piston all the way in to remove any little bit of air that lesser piston travel fails to clear.

2. Crack the banjos at the MC while applying pressure to the lever to clear any air trapped at that junction.. repeat at the 2 into 1 union if applicable.

3. Keep pumping the fluid through till the bubbles stop for 10 full lever pumps on each caliper.

Sounds like the mity vac is pulling air from somewhere but the system is clear. I'd call the job done if the lever is "very firm" as you say.

Agreed. It's probably still pulling in air around the threads.

A symptom of air in the system is if you can "pump up" the brakes -- by rapidly squeezing three or four times, does lever travel decrease? If not, you're good to go.
 
if the lever is solid and firm the bubbles are coming from your bleeder nipple and tube outside the closed system.
 
When I pump the lever, it moves around 1/4 of the way back and feels tight and solid. When I pump it sort of feels a bit firmer but I am not sure. I could be just imagining it because it isn't that much :o.

It also just seems to be one caliper/nipple that leaks the most bubbles. The other sides was clear of bubbles.

So no worries :o?
