A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Thought I'd logon and show you the latest update to my GS550. Strictly speaking there isn't much of the GS550 left but thats what it says on the registration documents!

I blew the 550 motor last year and caused serious internal damage such that the logical step was to slip in a GSX-R750G engine.

Anyone know what the original bhp output was for the GS550? I think it was 45bhp but this one is 95bhp now!

Thanks. Work was done by Polygon in Gloucester, England. No modification to the frame was required to fit the engine but they made up some very beefy billet engine mounts and fitted a small riser plate at the rear of the tank to lift it clear of the engine.

thats cool, did you have to do any frame reinforcment? does the frame dlex at all under load, accel/cornering? what kind of carbs are you useing and how do they fit? on the 550 motor with cv carbs there isn't much room for air filter.

i ask all these questions in case my 550 ever goes south, and a gixxer 750 motor sounds real fun. do you have any diagrams of the motor brackets, like templets or cad files?

thanks,
ryan

Your right there isn't much room on the GS550. The ones I had needed a bit of trimming to fit.

The carbs on the 750 motor are the standard Slingshot carbs that come with the motor, 29mm flatslides, but I'm not using any filters. That may change though.

Still road testing the bike since the new engine install ie. short distances, building speed each time then checking mounts, bolts, oil etc. after shake down so haven't really pushed it to know whether it flexes or not.

Sorry no templates or CAD drawings I'm afraid.
