DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I thought I did a good job fitting my RR and stator last year, apparently not:

Can I even do a run through of the Stator Papers like this or should I wait till I have redone the connections?

What a pain, I was planning on riding today!

It's really hard to tell what you have from that picture but a bad conection in a high current application will generate a lot of heat. Repair the connections, then do your tests.

So what is the absolute best connector? I don't want to do this again.

Most people use spade terminals, you need the proper crimping tool to cinch them down (I have one from Harbor Freight that works well).

One thing that will help these terminals live is to bypass the factory wiring and hook your R/R direct to the battery with an inline fuse. Make sure the ground for your R/R is solid as well - a dual ground system with one going to the battery and the other to the frame is recommended.

Not sure if it's the "absolute best", but you can check out these connectors from Eastern Beaver.

I recently ordered a wiring harness (scroll down to the bottom) for the new FET r/r on my wife's bike and was impressed with the quality of the harness and the speed of the service. I placed the order on a Sunday afternoon and received the order on Friday. Not bad, especially if you consider that it came from Japan.
I have no reason to believe that your experience will be any worse.

Nice link there Steve. Bookmarked.:D One of those three pronged terminal plugs would be ideal for the stator.

When I got the harness for the FET r/r, I was trying to decide between just getting the connectors or the complete harness.
I opted for the harness mainly because it also included the connector for the stator connection.
The choice of connector manufacturers was a small bonus. I don't know which one is technically better, I just went with the black one for aesthetics. :o

New connectors gives me 14.3 at 2500, 14.8 at 5K. Fingers crossed.
