I have a question for you people with quarter fairings: do they work worth a darn? I mean, do they block any air, or are they only effective when you're fully tucked?
Thanks

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.
Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Heck yeah, they work. As already mentioned, it obviously doesn't provide the protection of a full fairing, but it punches a hole in the wind nicely and creates a little personal environment bubble.I have a question for you people with quarter fairings: do they work worth a darn? On my bike the quarter fairing definately works. I rode the bike before I put the fairing on and it's like night and day. Tucked you don't get any air at all, I've been above (an indicated) 120mph on my bike and it's quite peaceful behind the fairing. I like to ride with my eyeline just above the windscreen and I only get air on my arms and legs. The air just passes over my helmet.
Even sitting up, it's nice because I'm not getting blasted in the chest by the oncoming air, like I get when I'm on my cruiser.
I moved the footpegs back about 2",...
Nothing fancy, just like this:

What I'd really like to do is move it back about 6" from stock and flip/shorten the shifter (and in the process get the 4-down/1-up shift pattern).
couldn't you swap the pegs L/R to offset the pegs more to the rear with the stock setup? those stock pegs are both spaced the same so who couldn't you just swap them so instead of the "L" in the mounting bracket facing forward, you would have it face backward and move the pegs back another ~2" ?Nothing fancy, just like this:

so if those small brackets are just a plate (from what it looks like in the photos), swap the plates too and bolt them to the other side of the plate.Actually, swapping the L/R was my first idea. Took both of them off and, lo and behold, the spacing between the bolts was different!!! So they don't fit on the opposite sides.
My bike doesn't have a kickstart, and I'm really bummed out about that.
LOL - I guess I DO have a few screws loose!
