A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Good Evening y'all,
I'm here in Houston for the summer, so I decided to build a GS cafe racer. Here's where we are as of today.

It's a cbr900rr frontend. I feel almost guilty that it's not a gsxr front end. Tomorrow the motor is getting detailed.

I'll be posting some update pics during the week. Enjoy.

line producer eh?

sounds film-video graphic to me

unless its dancing

thats a nice celan frame

odd that that a few suzukis and some kawai and honda are the last bikes with a frame that suits cafe racer looks

anyone know a yamaha that does?

You're right there. I line producer low budget films, budgets around 1 million or below. Fun stuff, usually.

The yamaha virago is a pretty decent cafe mod. I just chopped one a few weeks ago.

82 Virago

the ape hangers are um not nice
rest of the bike looks lovely though

a million or less he says
JEBUS!
I hope you are old enough t o remeber the pain of linear editing.

great cafe look...

great cafe look...

hi if you go to the xs650 club site and then click on holland and germany they are nutters about cafe xs650 bikes especially with the alloy W italian rims and spokes... they come up smick.. regards david :):)

Here's my engine looking all pretty.

Anyone have any tips for easily getting this beast back in the frame without scratching anything?

Lay the engine on some blankets on the right hand side and lower the frame over the engine .
Cheers , ;)Simon .

I like your style. Let's give this a go. If I can pick up an Ultra Classic, I can pick up a 750 ;)

It's easier with the the wheels off (only 'cause it's lighter) . I've got a '79 GS1000S and I had to take the breather cover bizzo off the valve cover to get that little bit of clearance . A couple of free beers for your mate that's giving you a hand will go a long way as well .

Cheers , Simon . :)

After taking the valve cover off, only half the gasket was still attached.

I ran to The Zone to pick up some gasket material. I am about to attempt to cut out my own valve cover gasket. Wish me luck.

GOOOOOD LUCK. why not buy one from a dealer?

I will probably end up doing that if I can't get mine to the correct specs. As for Why?

Why not? We do everything else for the bikes, why not try this too?

The engine is back in the frame and the carbs are cleaned, jetted, and painted to match. Only a few more days till I crank her up.

Galleria area. 610 and Beechnut down around Bellaire. You get her up and running give me a shout we'll go for a ride. Maybe we'll make it without dying of heat stroke!
