DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Caltric stator fail

I know it is an 1100. Was just unsure of it being a gl or gk. It was all chopped up by the previous owner but it seems to match your L description better.

Anyone happen to know what size puller is needed to remove the rotor?

Can you post a picture? :-k

If not, can you send one to my e-mail? (e-mail link available by clicking on my username)

Quick one I took the other day while the cover was off the stator. I'll have to take some better ones.

Thats definitely a chopped up L.

Not sure about a puller, I haven't had to do this repair yet. Someone else should know.

I will confirm that is a GL, not a GK. The leading-axle forks and the peanut tank are dead giveaways.

The culprit is most likely the little metal clip that holds the wiring harness down out of the way at the bottom of the chamber. It sits very close to the things and is easy to not get just right.

That all appears to be intact and not messed up. Got a new flywheel. Just waiting for the puller to be delivered but I kinda think its going to take a while coming from Canada. And I have yet to order a new stator. Suppose I should get on that.

I put the Caltric stator on top of the old stator and it is slightly larger in diameter. And 5 of the coils were longer than the rest of them

This is a no name stator stator I fitted for a few weeks while sorting the original.
The only marking is 1K.DSC03473.jpg
Six of the poles have rubbed. Can't say if it was there before or not.

No. And I was wondering that as well. It's a possibility. But I don't know what would throw it out of spec all of the sudden. Only 6k miles on the bike. No issue with the old stator. Wasn't until I replaced it that this suddenly happened. Old stator still fits in there nice too. Should have left it alone instead of throwing parts at it.

The flywheel puller is being delivered today so I'll know more once I pull it.

Flywheel puller showed up. Doesn't fit. It's like a mm too small. Go figure.

Got the right puller. Does 116ft/lb seem correct for flywheel nut? Maybe mine was just loose originally because it came off pretty easy. I believe the manual says 116-123. Tried posting screenshot but quality is lacking.
