A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

well the dip :mad:sh*t fu^k head piece of sh*t @#%!$##^%@#!^!$@#^$#^#$$#%@&%^#*&^%&@#%^$^$&%^$^%&#$&@&%%@&%$@&% that f up my bike EZEnter:evil:prizes in strikersville, ny sr77 and sr20
let my bike idle in hes shop for a half hour and my top hend payed for it
my intake cam journal on #1 is scored (under the cap not the lobe) its scored enoph to smear aluminum into the spaces the cam dosnt ride on.
its deep enoph to catch my fingernail the cap could be fixed with fine emory cloth.
is the journal fixable or do i need a new head
thanks
looks like my seasion is over:cry:

I am going to say new head.

BUT it may be fixed, and this is a real stretch. It may be possible for a machinist to weld the journal and cam and then line hone it to proper spec. Are you planning on letting the guy who messed it up pay for the repair?

cant prove a thing. this F*ck f it up in may and iv been working on it ever sence i just pulled the cams today (doing valve shims) already checked gap.
why cant a shop machine and put a bushing in it like a cars crank bearings

They could, but you would need to get the cam bearings line bored. The cost would be prohibitive. Also, you would be reducing the bearing cap strength once you fitted a set of shells.
Cheapest option is find a good second hand head on Ebay.

Vance & Hines Racing in Indy will line hone it for $200.00 bucks. If that is too expensive for you take your chances on a head from Ebay. Ray.

chance is right. ill use some emery cloth and polish the journal then use platigage limit is.0015in most likely im screwed

turns out i used a dremel on it fine drum. smothed it out and used plastigauge. it came out to .006in thats the limit acording to the factory manual. im not shur i should use it sence its the only journal that size.
i got a good deal on a used head but i just cant afford 1 right now. this bike is leaving me broke every payday.

well its time to rebuild 1100g the head needs to be line board is there any place in ny or around ther that can do it and wile im at it ill just have the head rebuilt. i cant find a good used head anyware. the old head looks new.
my bike is a show and cruise bike so looks count. if any 1 has a rebilt or as good head im looking
thnks

I have seen a lot of GS heads with a scoured cam journal that ran just fine.

Jay

Can we ask how he scored the cam journal so that none of us make the same mistake?

i think the a** hole i let work on it ran it with out oil. i pulled the cames when i checked the valve clearence. the outside 1 on the left side was scored
