A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Does anyone have the cam specs for both an '80 and '83 GS1100E for comparison? Are they the same cams?

I just checked a bunch of numbers for 80-83 1100s, as far as I can determine, they were all the same lobe height (in. 1.3642-1.3657, ex. 1.3528-1.35343) journal ODs are the same,I know the timing changed 82-83, but without actually checking the setups with a degree wheel not sure if they changed the cam itself or just the sprocket angle

Thanks, I was mainly interested in the lobe height. I'm doing some calculations on the rocker arm ratio. I have the lift for an '83 cam and I have measured the lobe height on mine. So, long story short, this helps a lot - thanks.

The ex. cam is different for the "83" model. It has more lift & duration than the earlier models ex. cam. I don't have the specs anymore, but I think on the "83" models the ex. cam specs. were almost the same as the in. cam specs., that didn't change form"80" thru "83". The change may have been in "82"

A magazine article I have states that " valve lift was increased for 1983, and intake valve timing was advanced by moving the cam sprocket holes."
