A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I knew the boots were messed up when i bought the bike, but it was interesting after getting them pulled out /facepalm

Here, this is the worst of the 4 lol, the first pic is a bit out of focus but u can clearly see its not in OE spec anymore lol

Partsoutlaw.com has them for $11.48 a pc, this is making me debate if i go with pods, or rebuild the stock airbox.... I like the factory look, and the idea of not rejetting, but idk. I guess i will try to get it running with the stock airbox after picking up a few new carb parts i need, then i will decide.

Pods are more work, not less. Sure, they install easily enough but getting the bike to run right with them is rarely a walk in the park judging by the number of posts on the topic.

Yeah, i know the PITA it can be thats why i dont have pods on my Honda either, but when i hard tail the honda, i might have to change that for looks, and clearance issues (or design a new air box).

I am just trying to weigh $$$ cause im not sure about keeping or selling the bike yet. I would like to get the bike to a running state before i make my decision. lol.
I am gonna be building my honda this winter, so i am at a cross roads, do i tuck the bike away till the honda is done, or try to get both up and running for the spring. So far the cost of my small parts list for the GS850 isnt outrageous but i dont want the budget to run away from me, Just to get it running.

I wanted to just see if i could get the bike running with the carbs not completely fixed, and it spit and sputtered, but didnt fire fully, gonna get the few parts i need and finish the carb rebuild and then put it back together so i can get ready to tear the honda down at the end of the month i think.
