DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hello everyone, I?m a new user here and also a new GS owner. I recently purchased a 77? 750. My question is I?m looking to update the carbs and rebuild the top end & gaskets also.

My carb question is I?m looking at getting Mikuni Tm28?s will I also need the mounting flange for those as well? This might be a beginner question but I haven?t been able to find a definitive answer online.

Thanks for your time everyone.

Welcome, and what else have you done to the engine? :-k

Unless you have a big-bore kit with some radical cams, you will not likely be able to use those carbs.

Why not get the stock bike running and enjoy it as-is for a while?

.

So as far as the engine goes, I haven?t done anything to it. But I know the stock carb size is 26mm, I wasn?t really sure if stepping up a carb size or not would be a huge issue or not.

The only thing I really wanted out of new carbs was getting away from the vacuum operated system.

He has VM slide carb s

I'm guessing he doesn't understand the vacuum fuel tap

Not sure exactly what you think you have there, but the only "vacuum operated system" on your entire bike is the little line that goes from carb #3 to the petcock to turn on the fuel.

If that is what you want to get rid of, simply cap it off at the carb fitting, then get ready to turn the fuel ON and OFF every time you ride, but also know that the only way to turn it ON is to turn it to the PRIme setting, which gives you NO reserve tank at all.

.

Thanks everyone for the responses. After setting down and familiarizing myself with the system I realize how ridiculous ?getting rid of vacuum? sounds. Still learning!

So, the next thing I?m curious about and I?ve been researching online and haven?t had much luck. Linking all 4 carbs together? I?ve found pictures of 4 stock carbs linked.

Could anyone provide a break down or a diagram of how the system works and is assembled?
