If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Carb help needed, running way too lean

I'm new to this board today but have heard many good things about it from some of the guys at Maximum Suzuki where I lurk quite often since owning a 1998 Bandit 1200.

I just picked up a new to me 1983 GS1100E with a 1982 Katana 1100 engine yesterday. It was a 2 hour drive to get it home and at about 4,000 rpm, when I open up the throttle in any gear, it just boggs right down. As I ease back up a little, it slowly starts to accelerate. I checked the plugs this morning and they are white so I decided to pull the carbs. I'm not all that familiar with these carbs but I also have a 1998 Suzuki Bandit whose carbs I know inside out and are not that different to these.

Can anyone tell me what the stock float height, pilot and main jet sizes are and if these needles can be shimmed at all. I plan on rejetting, going with a 4 into 1 and K&N pod filters over the winter but in the meantime would at least like to get it running better. It has stock exhaust and stock filter but I do have a K&N replacement for it. I'm not sure if I will buy a jet kit or go with my own. I do have an assortment of jets lying around but they may be a little large.

Any jetting information would be appreciated. Can you suggest what to go with with stock exhaust and K&N filter.

Thanks,

Sean

congrats on the purchase. i can't tell you the info you're looking for since my carbs are different, but i suggest you look at buying a Suzuki repair manual, or a Clymers. they have the useful info in there for quick reference.

as for the bogging down, you may want to make sure fuel is flowing okay out of your tank, and that your fuel lines between each carb aren't clogged.

I pulled the carbs yesterday and found that 2 or the four slide diaphragms were no properly seated. Fixed that up and checked for rips and tears (none) and the probleme is solved and it pull smoothly right up to near redline. Does anyone know what the stock jets sizes are. I've got 112.5 mains and 47.5 pilots but haven't figured out how the pilots are used yet because they're plugged with rubber plugs.

I thought I read somewhere that stock mains were 107's. I pulled the spark plugs yesterday and they are white (very lean). If the mains are larger than stock and I'm running the stock exhaust, pilots and air filter, it seems it should be running a little rich. What gives?

Regarding the pilot jet, there is a little hole that feeds fuel to the pilot jet from the main jet. Pull the main jet and you'll see it.
