A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi working on my 79 1000 , vm 28 pumpers ,, I am not sure if I am doing some thing wrong or what, I have stripped the carb all the way down 2 times dipped them ,took extra time to use air and carb cleaner and blown through every hole , and when I put back on bike ,seams like 1 or 2 don't fire, ,, has any one else been going through this, and is Ultrasonic Cleaner that much better , and is that why I am have so much trouble ,I am not using one .. if so is this one good , ebay #.261860375636 Professional Stainless Steel Ultrasonic Cleaner

thanks Bill B

There's several members that offer carb cleaning services, see the Services forum. That would be cheaper than buying a sonic cleaner

You sure it's the carbs and not the ignition? Does it have points?

Sounds like something other than the carbs. Have you pulled each plug individually to make sure you are getting spark?

Although I do want to eventually buy an ultrasonic cleaner I've always dipped by carbs in proper carb dip and it works just fine. All that being said, I did have a set of 26mm carbs that needed a 3rd dip before I cleared the pilot circuit. After that I started my method of dipping the carb from anywhere between 6 hrs to 24hrs in Berrymans, then putting a guitar wire thru every circuit, then spraying with carb cleaner and air. Never had that issue again. What did you use to dip them with, and how long/how dirty were they? interesting you have 28mm and not the stock 26mm's. I have a set of 28mm and have always wondering what the performance would be like.
