A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hey guys, does anyone know which carbs these are off of? I know it's a long shot but they came in a bucket of parts from my friends bike.

I know there mikuni CV 34mm, 50mm O.D. intake and have 117.5 mains.

hard to say without knowing the bore spacing. if they came from a gs, then they would more than likely come off of an 1100. the only other bike that I know of that they could have come off of is a Yamaha xs1100, but I don't know which bowl Yamaha used for their bs34 carbs

Betting they came off of a 1983 GS750E US model. The reasoning is that the 34mm indicates BS34SS carbs. The choke linkage is 1982+ and the 117.5mm main jet narrows it down to the 83 GS750E.

Thanks JT, they'll be going up for sale, I have no idea what to ask for them, $100 maybe?

My 80 GS1000S came with BS34SS carbs. GS 1000s starting in 1980 were equipped with 34mm CV carbs. The 750s from 1980 were equipped with 32mm CV carbs and i think the 850s as well.

There should be a number on the outside bodies (carbs 1 & 4). That number should tell you what they originally came from.

This is a good reference; http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/images/carbspec_float_height.html

i know that all 4 cylinder gs's upto 850 use bs32ss carbs, along with some 1000's iirc. I would have said that those 34's were off of a kz, but the bowls are wrong. the 34ss carbs on kz's have a nipple on the bottom of the bowls for checking floats and fuel levels in the bowls

750s use 32mm carbs. Those are from an 82 1100E is my call. The 81 & earlier had a different choke linkage setup.
Ray.

Thanks Ray,
pulled the needle jet, it's marked 5D59 and outside of carb #1 is printed 45220 and B216

My bad, I read 34mm and thought 32mm. No, those carbs are not from a G750. Strange needle and main arrangement though. I don't know of a 45220 listing but do have to agree with ray. They must be a GS1100 carbs since they are 34mm and 82+ model based on the choke assembly. I've just never heard of a 117.5 main with a 5D59 needle but who knows what some POs have done in the past. If you could measure the main air jet size, that would narrow it down and is critical in the sale of those. The 16 valve GS1100E's had a 1.2mm air jet while the 1100G/GL/K's 8 valves engines had a 1.7mm air jet.

Thanks for all the help guys, will do that JT and post results.
