After a basic check and fluids change on my new 1980 GS450S I decided it was safe enough to try to fire it up for the first time in probably 25 years. With a little help it fired up and idled a little. Sounded pretty good considering it's hibernation time.
Now I want to rebuild the carbs and need a new air filter. The carbs are a little slow (gummed up most likely) and the foam air filter element turned into dust when I touched it.
Easy one first. Stock replacement foam air filter or does K&N make a drop in type replacement for this model? Is it recommended? Bike is bone stock with 12k miles on it.
Carbs: I read through a couple carb rebuilds here and it looks easy enough. I checked eBay real quick and didn't see any kits available. It's mostly o-rings besides the float bowl gasket. Where do you guys get new o-rings? Dealer, auto parts store or?
Thanks and any more tips are always appreciated.
