    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Carb O-rings on ebay?

I just received a set of carb o-rings that I ordered from retro-motorcycles on ebay. The eight that go on the vent "T"s and aluminum fuel tubes are a smaller diameter and are too thick. Same with the needle valve seat o-ring and the air screw o-ring. They will probably slip on OK, but they are definitely not the same as the original o-rings. Has anyone here used these sets and experienced problems?
 
I have never tried these rings but the ones I got from cycleorings.com were a perfect fit.
 
We usually get our kits from cycleorings.com ( robertbarr here on the forum) and dont experience any problems. Can you return the ones you got off Ebay? Roberts kit will be around 22 dollars and youll get everything you need. He also has the intake manifold and drain plug orings.
 
That's all Ive ever used and have never had a problem with cycleorings.com. Put a little silcone on them and turn the tube as you push it in the carb
 
I bought the same o rings as you did (retro-motorcycles ) . I worried slightly after what you said as the diameter wasn't the same. I did fit them to the pipe and pushed it into the carb and it is a perfect fit. I am not worried. I am using these and expect no problems with them. He had sold eight sets and no complaints about them so why worry? By the time you get he old ones off they have increased in size too. Theold ones are hard to remove.. I had to try them last night as I was so curious if they would fit.

And let's face it: Mine taste better. Just a pinch between the cheek and gums, for hours of chewy pleasure.
 
Update...

After readiong a bunch of past posts on o-rings here on the forum, I was concerned about the smaller 0-rings from retro-motorcycles stretching and failing prematurely. I figured better safe than sorry, so I returned the ebay o-rings and went with cycleorings.com. I am very pleased. All of the o-rings from cycleorings were individually bagged and labeled, and the size was correct. There was even a tip sheet included for some things to watch out for in the installation. In the end, the cost of all the o-rings for the carbs, intake boots, and a set of stainless bolts was about the same as if I had bought all that stuff on ebay separately. I just finished my rebuild and all of the o-rings fit as they should.

This forum is a great resource...Thanks for the help.

In the end I went for the Robert Barr O rings ( sopunds good ). Retro motorcycles didn't give a reply when I told him about the size of the O rings so I just left a negative comment.
But Robert I have to say that your O rings didn't taste any better:)
