    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi All,
First, apparently I am not very active because I had to re register, again, shame on me! :upset:
My question is this: is there anyone around that is reliable and trustworthy in Flint, Saginaw, Bay City area of Michigan that is willing to tear down, soak, and put new o-rings in a set of carbs for a 1979 GS750? Please?? I am more than happy to pay! My problem is that I do not have the time to learn this myself right now. I am in school full time plus working full time plus family, and I do not have a garage to work in.

Thanks for the links and reply. Looks like I will have to make some time in the next month or so. Carbs scare the hell out of me so the links will come in very handy.
I do remember some one on this site selling the o-ring kits, I will have to search for him.

robertbarr here on the forum. Be sure to go to page 3 of his place and order up the intake manifold orings as well.

If you have the plastic fuel tee and transfer tubes, I suggest they are replaced with the far superior metal type. The plastic ones end up leaking and you cant replace just the orings and move on. the metal,ones just need the orings if a failure occurs and thats that. Its not really as daunting of a task as it seems.....heck, if I can do it....:p keeping organized was key for me.
The tutorials here were quite helpful and appreciated.

thanks, I was running it though in my head looking at the tutorials thinking I can do this...aside from the time. Then reality hits, I have no place to tear down and work. I was politely yet firmly informed by the mrs that I am NOT going to do it on the kitchen table. lol

I know this thread is a little old, but I just wanted to publicly say thanks to chuck. I wound up sending the carbs to him to rebuild and I could not be happier! He answered all my questions, reminded me which carb has the vacuum line going to the petcock lol, quick turn around and a very detailed run down of what he did to the carbs.
It is nice to know that the members on this site actually know what they are talking about and are reliable.

Use an off site hosting site such as Photobucket..its free. Download pics there and then you can link up to 10 per post i think.

Thank you Matt for the trust and opportunity to rebuild them for you. still got some fine tuning to do though.

Nows the time to get a good vacuum sync to smooth them out. Then youll be tuning the mixtures with the side mixture screws. Most important is the gauges and get a good sync first. its a process....LOL
