    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Carb swap question

Okay, I have an '83 gs 1100 g without carbs. I also have an' 80 gs 750 that is inoperable. Can I put the 750 carbs on the 1100? Maybe a stupid question
Haven't found anyone that's done it.

No, you need the bigger BS34 carbs , not the BS32 ones that are on the gs750. What happened to the gs1100 carb rack?

They didn't come with the bike. But it was still a good deal for $500 worth 10k miles. Lusted after it because I loved my 750. More power and shaft drive. It's what I have now. I put over 60k miles on that 750 and the sprocket nut came off and chewed the threads off the driveshaft. In retrospect having the shaft rethreaded would of been a better option than replacement. Could only find one output shaft. Fleabay said it was the right one. It wasn't. Which I found out after splitting the crank case and getting the old one out. First time attempting many of those operations. I need a bike right now for sanity. I also have a rack of carbs off of an xs1100. I've been told the size and jetting is correct for my gs 1100. But the spacing is a little bit different. So option two is see if the xs1100 carbs will affix to the 750 rack. If not then I'll have to make one. If anything I'm going to learn some things.
 
The 1000 CV carbs are basically same as the 1100 carbs. Unfortunately, I don't see any cheap sets of those on ebay either. You could try to graft on some VM26's, but after purchasing the boots that wouldn't be a bargain either. Bad timing.

If you can get the 32's to mate up to the head and airbox I'd use them. You may need to mess with jetting, but maybe not. If it works it would buy time until a proper set of 34's show up.

look for a salvage yard bike with complete carb rack/airbox - this will save you a lot of grief, no matter how ambitious you are!

Edit: a quick check in NE revealed a bunch of these critters for parts ...you might some hungry guy willing to pop carbs off , send nice pics,etc. here's one from Mass
