A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I noticed the bars on my Carbtune do not rise together when I open the throttle. I have synced them really close at idle and they stay pretty close at higher rpms. Is this normal?

Have you set the valves, yet? There will be slight variations on throttle roll, but the main thing is to have the valves set fist, then do the synch. If you've followed this simple rule, and things are tight at idle and 3500 +- you should be fine.

Man I'm glad you posted this.

I just sync'ed mine today (1982 gs1000s Kat) and had the same thing happen to me, sync'ed good but a alittle throttle and one carb pulled more than the rest. I know that on mine the outer (1 and 4) carbs need to pull alittle more.

I already adjusted the valves, they didn't need much though. I'm gonna post everything I did to my bike in a minute and see if anyone can help with my problems. Good luck on yours.

P.s. If you have cv carbs, look inside the intake bore if you can and push up all the slides, if one is a little harder then the rest thats your problem. take it out and clean it.

With stock exhaust pipes that have a crossover pipe, Suzuki recommends setting carbs 2 and 3 slightly lower than 1 and 4. When using a header this suggestion is moot; set all the carbs even.

Regarding the vacuum level changing as you tweak the throttle, yes it is going to happen. I wouldn't worry about it too much, just follow the sync process as specified in the service manual; set sync at 2500 rpm or what ever it states for your bike and be done with it.

Escobarclan,
Thanks for the post/reply.
I set my valves about 3000 miles ago and I am hoping that is not the reason for the imbalance in vacuum when I open the throttle.
My thought process is to consider each cylinder as a separate engine.
I think they should always be fairly close to each other.
By the way, my #3 responds very fast. Others lag but are closer to each other.
If you just set your valves and notice this... I'm thinking it must be a difference in the action of the main needle diaphragms.
Mechanical drag and/or the spring force, I guess control the response.
If the valves and the butterflies are fixed, is this why the vacuum profile at 1000 rpm is the same at 4000 rpm. Hmmmm

your number 3 responds the fastest because that is the one that the throttle cable is connected to. the others are on a bar.

Well, cat, I agree that the number three may respond a fraction quicker, but thats the whole purpose on sync'ing. It could very well be a vac leak somewhere or freeplay in part of the throttle assembly as well if the problem is real bad. But I found in my Kat that you will get alot of distortion while trying to sync and gunning it.
