    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

This is repost, the original was lost in the forum world somewhere and I did not get a chance to read any replies. Sorry about the dup but here it is.
I finished cleaning my carbs and holy crap it actually started, now I seem to have a new problem. When I wind it out to about 6k rpms the bike sputters and coughs, I think it is not getting enough fuel.
I cleaned the petcock and installed new fuel line and added a fuel filter when I did the carbs. The petcock had no fuel come out in the prime position, but did work when vac was applied to it, so I figured I was alright but maybe not, has anyone else seen this problem, could it be the petcock since it never had this problem before it sat for 3 years ? If it is the petcock what are my options ?

At 6000 RPMs is your throttle wide open? Throttle position determines which jet you are in, not RPMs. If it is starving I would check the float heights before anything else. Does it ever get better, like at 7000 RPMS?
 
It could be starving for fuel. acording to our post petcock is not working right. take the petcock apart and clean it or rebuild it. ON prime fuel should pour out of the valve. On run it should not allow any fuel to flow until vacuum is applied to the valve
 
Thanks for the responses. I am not sure if it gets better at a higher rpm, I let off when it started to stumble, although the bike never did this before. I will see if it gets better at a higher rpm. I did not change the float hights when I did the carbs and I did check them to make sure they were still ok, they were dead on.
I did take the petcock apart and clean it so I don't think it is dirty, and fuel did not come out in the prime position, but then again I had never tried that position before so it may have never worked, what comes in a rebuild kit and where can I find one ? I think a new one is like $70 (you got to be kidding) so I don't think I want to do that, any other cheaper options ??

When you cleaned the carbs did you replace all the rubber washers? and verified all the needle valves were unstuck and unvarnished. DID YOU DIP THE CARBS? etc etc. cleanout all the orifaces per the carb guide on this homepage? does the new fuel filter pass enough gas,
not you.. the filter.

A new petcock assembly for my 82 1100 was only $54 from the dealer. The rebuild kit was about 10 or 15 bucks cheaper, but I didn't feel like messing with it
 
A couple of years ago I paid $42.95CDN (about $28US) for a TourMax rebuild kit. Got it at a from an independant motorcycle shop. 8)
 
Yup, I followed the carb cleaning instructions, and replaced the rubber washers and pilot jet plugs (mine were mush).
I am not sure about the filter I just ordered one from a bike site. I will price the petcock from my dealer and see how bad it is.
Thanks, anyone else have a different source for the petcocks ??
