I have an '82 GS1100EZ. Recently, my gear shift lever has stopped returning to the central position after shifting down. After a little research, I have deduced that my Centralizing Spring is most likely broken. The part is inexpensive (about three dollars), but my question is: How difficult is this to change? I have the Haynes manual for the bike, but did not see detailed instructions on how to do it. Also, is there any issues with riding the bike in the meantime (other than the annoyance of having to manually return the shift lever to the central position)? Any help is appreciated as I would rather not pay the labor fees to have someone else install. Thanks!
