    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have been watching the buying and selling of GS carbs on flebay. Don't be frustrated if you bid on a carb and someone overbids you at the last minute (It happened to me 3 times).

I noticed that the carbs I bid on was back on flebay the next day but with a higher price. Some of the carbs were even sold by the same person both times.:eek:

I contated flebay but they have yet to answer. Does anyone know of a different place to locate used carbs without getting the shaft? (or the run-around?)

The carb I need is #3, and the people I talked to here at work were all talk and no action.

I know times are hard and people are trying to sell their stuff for the highest price, but times are also hard for the people looking to buy them.

Any help will be appreciated.

As usual, if the feedback is good, there's generally a reason for it. Same for poor feedback.

I suspect that sellers have a rougher time on eBay than buyers. I know I did, and I haven't offered a kit on eBay in about three or four years. Too much headache, too many losers who will bid and vanish. Perhaps that's what happened to the seller in question.

If an item gets bid on by a loser / nonpayer, or the deal comes apart somehow, of course the seller will re-list. It might make the deal appear less than legit, but often there's a good reason for it.

it might just be worth it to buy a whole set of carb bodies and rebuild thos cause just getting one off a set is kinda a waist of time. IMO. also a person on Ebay could have a kid or relative or friend bid on there item to make it sell for higher I dont know if that is ok but it happens and there aint nothing you can do about it.

I have a carb rack from a '80/81 GS750. Are they the same? I can't speak much for the condition. The bike was a wreck when I bought it to part out. But if you're doing a rebuild anyway, they might work for you.

On genuine Ebay auctions, the winning bid often comes in in the last seconds. When I care about an auction, I sit at my computer during that time, logged-in and ready to bid. I also have a maximum price that I will bid, and I never exceed it. The tendency for prices to shoot up in the last minutes and seconds is so strong, that there are software services that can place your bid for you at the last second, automatically.

It would be hard for me to do that since most of the carbs I bid on end sometime while I'm at work. I live in the country so internet at home is limited to 56k (if the phone line has no static). That's why I only go online at work. (during break time of course :D)

I usually set my bid to go 5 sec before the end of an auction...
(Started doing this after I missed a trailer a few years ago because I dozed off waiting to bid at 11:30pm)
