    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I know it is in here somewhere,but what is the stock setting for the air screw mixture on a 1980 GS1100E
 
It doesn't really matter, around a turn or so just to get it going. They need to be adjusted individually for highest idle speed.
 
The stock setting was probably just over one turn, maybe 1 1/8.

However, if you want something that works, start with 2 or 3 turns out, then tweak from there to attain highest idle speed.

If you haven't been though the carbs in a while it's well worth the effort to dip them and replace all the O-rings inside plus the intake pipe boot O-rings as well. After that, set the screws to 2.5 turns from lightly seated and vacuum sync the carbs followed by adjusting the mixture screws to achieve the highest idle speed as mentioned already.
 
I don't have o rings on the intake boots,but my clamps are maxed out.Should there be a little gap on the clamps when tight?
 
The thing about the bike is it runs great when it is up to temp,but it has a small stumble below 2500 after that hold on.The bike is all stock except a uni air filter that the PO put on it.I think I should get a stock air filter for it to ritchen it up a little
 
The thing that bugs me about this bike is that I found it sitting in a garage for the past 25 years and I know that sitting is a bad thing but it has only 7500 miles on it.Do you guys think since I am riding it every day I am going to find promblems with it.Read my past posts I did work on it and thought I did everything right.
 
Sounds like you are very close if it only stumbles when cold. Just a tiny bit lean for whatever reason, maybe too lean from the factory. If that filter does not fix it, look at raising the needles and adjusting the mixture screws.

My 1100E sat for 23 years, cleaned the carbs and electrical connections, brakes and tires, have had no problems with it at all.
