    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

choke conversion

I'd like to free up some room by removing the choke cable on my bike. I know there are a few bikes out there with chokes that you adjust directly off the carburators, and I am wondering if there's a way to do that with my bike. Would I just need to remove the spring on the choke bar?
 
I dont have any choke controls on my gs 1100 anymore, I just reach down the right side of the bike and grap the choke rail and pull it out by hand whilst cranking the engine and off we go. Yup, its a bit grumpy for a bit alright but no problem after about 10 seconds as long as I keep the idle up a bit and dont try to move for 60 seconds.
 
that's awsome, did you just remove the spring on the choke rail? cause I think the spring pushes it back in
 
Sorry, when I said that I reached down the right side, I meant the left side looking forward. No I didnt remove the spring. Its a bit hard as the spring is strong but it is just something I do. My cable is still connected but siezed and I havent done anything about it just yet as I am too busy with other projects right now.
 
Yes to 3phase, I have an 1150 that has no choke cable, I just pull out on the choke rail & hit the start button. The clutch switch will need to be bypassed.
