A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

:D
;)

what kind/brand of paint is that? I'm going to blast a valve cover with glass bead and wanted to paint it black like the rest of the motor. This is for a liquid cooled bike. The current paint is all peeling.

i'm gonna take a wild stab in the dark here and say it's PJ1 case paint ;) - and by the look of it i'd go with satin

thanks sparky! couldn't read everything on the can. I need exact names/brands/models. I don't like missing anything or guessing. Just the way i am.

I've often thought about that, but didn't know how to go about doing it at home. I wonder if one of those SHARK steam gizmos on TV would work?

We had a steam cleaner at a shop I used to work at. I've used engine desgreaser, simple green, and pressure washers on car engines, but nothing got it clean like highh pressure steam. Gotta be careful though, it'll burn ya! (don't ask how I know)

My cases were done in a steam machine at a machine shop.
This is after I went to a pressure car wash with Gunk and fell on my a$$. I did manage to keep the cases in each arm in the air and didn't break them.

this thread is worthless without pics (at the car wash) :-\\\

Thanks for all the suggestions. Soap. Hmmm. I was so busy thinking of oil based cleaners I just did not think of strong soapy things.

So I went out in my Garage and found some "Oil Eater" soapy cleaner. It's a concentrate from Costco, and is advertised as a engine cleaner when used at full strength. I borrowed a small spray bottle from my wife, and after two spray/rinse cycles - and a half used up toothbrush, I found that the engine was 98% clean. And that hard to clean oily dirt on the bottom front was gone also. So was the mess around the spark plugs.

Wow, it looks better than it has in 28 years!

Thanks guys for the ideas.

Word of warning, I used Purple Power with 50:50 mix of water in a spray bottle to degrease my engine. I breathed in some of the mist and got a sinuse infection (still got it). :(

Toxic poising can't kill it. Hoping i dont have to get anti-biotics to kill it.
