A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

im about to run the stator papers tomorrow but i wanted to see if there was a way to clean it other then having to buy a whole new one if it is in fact bad?

If it is truly bad your only choices are to rebuild it or replace it. There really isn't anything to clean.

well the only reason why i ask is because i know a guy who has a stator already off his bike, and it was all black and covered in gunk, but he claims its functional, now im not an idiot but i also dont know much about bikes, so i guess im glib haha. So i didnt know if you more seasoned guys had run into this before? i get about 4 starts out of my bike before the brand new battery dies, i hook it up to a tester when its running and it says the battery is charging. im soooo confused

What part of oHIo are you in? :-k

One of us might be close enough to stop by and help you check it out.

.

If you can post a pic or two of the stator it would be a big help.

my bike is in my friends garage in heartville alliance area. And i havent actually looked at the condition of my own stator, but ill deff post pics if its covered in gunk, but i doubt it is since almost everything on this bike looks new, every time i pull something off of it it looks new, the guy who had in before me must have really loved it.

I'm confused, too

Why do you care about what the other guys stator looks like?

If his is gunked up I'd hate to see the rest of the inside of his motor.

What, exactly, did you tester tell you?

It should be 12 V + at idle and 13.8 V at 3,000 rpm

Something's wrong if you battery is going flat. It could be as simple as a ground wire

We have the cure for that:

thank you so much im deff gonna check this out. and i bring up his stator because he claims it works, so if in fact it does work and just needs cleaning then i wanted to see if it was doable, now i know that it isnt haha by the way i hit the bike hard with my purse and it didnt fix anything ;) haha

It is better to find out precisely what your problem is before you start buying parts.

If your bike charges but gets 4 starts, that doesn't sound like its definately a stator.
