A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

My 1980 kz1300 bagger has a very serious problem with the clear coat going bad. I thought it was sand from the sand blaster but it seems to be the clear coat on the 2 bags and the trunk.
I use rubbing compound and a rag . After a lot of work, i get it off. Ant\y advive on making it easier for me??

Need more information. Is the clear delaminating (peeling)?

OK Thanks for the reply.

There is a dense cracking. It feels like sand. It comes off with a lot of fingernail scraping an we have used rubbing compound in one spot. it doesnt come off too easily though. I will go outside now and take some pics if i can.

The third photo is where we used rubbing compound. The whole surface was bad before the rubbing. It was an awfull job. Is there a better way????

It's not what you want to hear, but I'm afraid there is no saving that short of a respray. The clear has given up the ghost......

Affraid so. The paint can't survive without the clear.
It will need to be repainted. No way around it.

I had a tank on a 650 that was so bad it actually looked like rust forming, I had a high speed 90 degree buffer and some waxing rubbing compound and it went rather fast and looked great when done. The only thing is I had to do the whole tank to match the look. I think I used something like scratchout or tarnish gone or something like that. The buffer is the main part, you can do a lot in a little time with excellent results.
