DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have a 1980 GS 450 E and am shopping for clubman bars. The problem is they come in different sizes and I don't know which ones to get. I am putting new paint on my bike and don't really want it smacked by the bars...

i'm afraid i can't help you in terms of what size you need, but i am interested in hearing about what you go with. i'm looking to replace the stock bars on my 450l because they are just ridiculous

You need a 7/8ths inch diameter bar. you also want as little sweep in clubmans as you can find.

I would probably recommend you go for superbike bars instead unless you are also doing rearsets, otherwise your in for some back pain.

I went back and forth between clubmans and superbike bars for quite a while for my 650. I ended up going with the superbike bars and absolutly love them. They are much much better than the stock bars, but if I would have gone to the clubmans I would be having some serious back issues LOL. Also, if you dont put rearsets on along with the clubmans, you will be chewing on your knees all the time.

Another plus to the superbike bars, you can strategically reroute all the stock cables and hoses and make them work with the superbike bars...........you will have to buy all new cables and hoses to work with the clubmans.

I have ridden mine for roughly 4 hours straight, with only stops for gas and had no pain in my back, arms, or wrists. So that is what I would recommend.

Hope this helps.

Superbike bars here too, logged in a few thousand on them and very happy. Clubmans would be cooler but painful in the long run.

+1
I love superbike bars too.
I didn't have My GS550E two days before I had a set on there. Bike Bandit had 'em for $15.00 or so. It's the best cheap mod you'll ever do.
