I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

So it looks like I have a switch from my clutch lever similar to the one on my front brake but the connecters are just hangin inside the harness and the wiring diagram isnt clear enough to see what it is? Also can I use this switch if its not of any use and use it for my front brake since that one doesnt have any contact?

It's a kill switch, so you don't start it in gear. To by pass it you connect the two wires together at the harness. Just dont press the starter button with it in gear.

I believe it's just in the center of a yellow wire with a green stripe.

Supposedly it's a safety switch, so you can't start the engine without three hands. I'm not sure why it's safer, sounds quite stupid to me. Inside the headlight, connect the two wires together. They even have male/female connectors already, so it's easy. The switch can be used as a spare for the brake, although it fits a little funny.

True, but the sad part is that it won't let you start in neutral, either.

Tkent is right, there are times you need three hands to start the bike.
It got better in '82 when the "choke" control moved to the left handgrip, but it's even better when the clutch switch is bypassed. :D

As Curly mentioned, look for similarly-colored wires (yellow with a green stripe) in the headlight bucket that are connected together.
Those are what the clutch switch used to be connected to.

It looks very close to the brake switch, but I don't remember if the contacts are at the correct end to interchange them.
If the contacts will work, you will have to change one of the bullet connectors so it will plug into the harness.

Good to know I'll try and use it for my brake. It looks as if the piece inside the lever area has snapped off or is just short.

I did exactly this to bypass the clutch safety switch on both my 850 and 1100.
