All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Those are not for an I4 motor, they will not physically fit

For a twin they should work! MOST of the coil post are regarding I4 motors Bandit/GSX coils

Great. I guess finally I'm at an advantage against all you people with the beasts.

Should work on inline 4 also. But you must bay 2 of them.
If the ohms are right ????

GS1000GLx :?:

Are these gonna be direct replacements, or am I gonna have to fabricate something to make them fit?

Great. That'll be fun.

Any ideas for direct bolt ons?

I'm a little mechanically-savy, I can turn a wrench, but I don't have the tools or inclination to be fabricating stuff.

Am I thinking too little of myself?

Fabrication is not nearly as hard as it sounds. Especially if the mount being fabricated is hidden, like a coil mount. You can go for effective, if not pretty.

Just use cardboard to trim and shape, then cut metal using the final cardboard piece you shaped and molded as a template.

Then bend, pound, shape, drill, and trim it to fit properly and not rub anything vital.

I got a honda Aspencade trunk and rack on my GS650GL using two re-shaped straight brackets from the hardware store. just bent them into an offset Z for the left, and offset S for the right side. Works like a charm....

Cool. Thanks.

It's much better than paying an arm and a leg on Ebay for coils that'll fit my bike and are 20+ years old, or paying anohter arm and a leg for Dyna's.

Hmm, Im one of those that paid an arm and a leg for the dyna's....They are nice though. However, that was before I discovered ebay. Coils from a suzuki sv650 should fit your bike better than those generics from jc whitney.

There's a couple on ebay now.

and: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=34284&item=2467712359

This guy is selling them separately, I've posted the link to one of them.

Yeah, the hardest part is just knowing what will work and what won't.
