Working on this GS1100GK I got recently (only 28K). Compression check shows 120-130-120-140 with engine warm and throttle opened. I know that is less than normal yet above the "service limits", but what I dont know is just how bad is that? Any comments? That bad enough that it will be more like a 400 than an 1100?
I also checked compression with a couple tablespoons of oil in each cyclinder - much higher, like 170 to 180 or 190, so that tells me the rings and/or cyclinders are worn, right? Might this need more than new rings? Or cant tell untill measure cyclinder bore?
Probelm I am having is that on startup two pipes dont warm up aas fast as the other two. Pipes #3 & 4 warm up first, #1 warms up slower and #2 will still be cold when others are warm. During warm up it doesnt run smooth, boggs if try to rev up, slight back fire out exhaust while warming up. Have tried pinching off the petcocks vacuum line - no difference. After it all warms up it still doesnt rev/accelarate like I think it should, wants to bogg. All this sounds to me like carbs need cleaning.
Have looked at sparks, all sharp snappy sparks.
PO says it "hadn't been rode much in 3 years" when he got it, he had it a year, then advertised it as "ready to go". I see it has new coils and new petcock.
It looks good, but is an other bad flea-bay story.
