As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Maybe its just the aussie red version that has them. And while im at it the red near the fuel cap (riders side) is 108 mm and what ever that is in inches and it tapers to 75 mm at 80 mm above the welded seam near the bolt to hold the tank on

My tank is off a 1980 GS1000S ( I think ) and has the same measurements as Sharpy's

Hey Sharpy is your tank dented or does the 1000s have indentations?
Cheers

Shhh its dented from the previous owner knees. Ran into a truck and those dents and the fairing got damaged. Have a painted fairing on it and the original is stored.

Thanks guys! You've been lots of help! If that orange stripe version is really just for aussie models, I should have a very rare look this side of the pond.

I'll let you know if I have any other questions.

Ok, time to open up this old thread again! Brian has started on the layouts for the decals and has a few questions for all you great people! See below:

Side Panels

One of the side panels (right side) is shorter. I assume this is standard on all the models you sent pictures of? (I would guess so, anyone???)

I have attached a picture from one of your friend's call "Side Cover 1". It would be best if I could get a scan of the "GS1000S" decal. The side panel in the photo should be flat enough to do so. I can't get enough detail from the current photo, and it would take a few photos and some detailed measurements, so the scan is the easiest. The scan can be in JPEG but must not be resized in any way, even if Windows asks to make it smaller when e-mailing.
To make sure the placement in relation to the stripe is accurate, could I get a photo of the other side panel and a dimension for horizontal placement for both left and right sides covers (from whichever end is easiest to reference)? (I know it's a lot to ask, but I figure you guys are amazing and wouldn't deny me my "S". :D)

Tail Piece

I will need some additional info and photos to capture the location and shape of the stripes on this piece. I have attached photos showing the type of shots/distance I would need, and shown where (with yellow arrows) I would need some dimensions for location taken from. They are self explanatory.

I'm going for the style like Don's bike, not the more common one with the two stripes down the length of it. See below.

You can send pics to my email. rakman_88@hotmail.com

Thanks for any help you can give me guys!

If you want to be DIFFERENT but still be red & white, I'll bet it would look STUNNING with the red a candy apple red & the white a pearl white! Ray.

Ray, was actually considering this. The guy who is gonna be painting it for me is absolutely OBSESSED with pearl! I have a colour change pearl on my 650. I can't even begin to explain how nice it looks in the sun. Not overdone like those purply-greeny-blue vehicles, but a subtle green-blue on pearl white. Might even do a candy pearl red. Price will be the deciding factor, but I get it done much cheaper than anyone else would.

Still need the decal info though regardless.

My 1980 S has a black stripe only.
Not another red or orange stripe.
Don't forget the S on the tail piece.
And the stripe on the front fender.
This is obviously not the stcok color, but the sceme is correct.
The PO went with a darker blue, not the stock Suzuki blue.

I've owned it for about 20 years, time for a repaint

Me and my old girl, RIP Onyx

What's wrong with pearl green and purple? :D

Any takers on the measurements? Sharpy? :-\\\

Brian is also looking for a measurement for the thickness of the lines on the more popular black & white lines rather than the ones with the orange in between.
