Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

i've got 3.50mm oversize cruizinimage (ebay name) kit with a head gasket and it has large holes in all four corners rather than the smaller ones in parts books.
was keen to fit some orings in there for extra security, thoughts please?
also any other GS's have orings here. my bike is very different being hung from extended cylinder head bolts, rather than cradled in the frame so trying to assist oil tightness.

Yes, do it. Some brands of GS1000 head gasket have the large corner holes, some don't.
Given a choice I prefer to use the O ringed corners.
Find an O ring size which just fits in the gasket and use a smear of grease to keep them in place when assembling.

In your case I'd have a good look at the triangular O rings on the cylinder base as some can be a tad thin which can lead to leaks at the back corners.
They need to stand proud of the gasket surface.

yeah i noticed that these were thinner than the ones in there before

the oring i have is 2.86mm the depth of the groove and the gasket combined is 2.37 mm, my oring chart says for 2.7mm oring the crush should be 2.4mm so given it's oversize from 2.7 this should be ample, however the previous oring out of there was thicker.

If you haven't put the head on yet you could lift the barrel enough to put in the thickest triangular ones you've got.

Given the way the motor hangs in that thing, I'd doubt the head will leak first, I'd pick it'll be the base which moves first.
Those bottom ones are notorious for leaking.

had my little drawing on me last weekend to have a chat greg but didn?t see you, i have ordered some genuine parts as they are thicker than the aftermarket ones, want to give it every chance i can get, waited till after the cases were vapour blasted and painted with durapox before i thought i maybe i should have put some heavy duty studs in too....

I only go to that meeting on practise day...Didn't know you were commenting the Nats.
If you lived in ChCh and had to ride it on our roads - still horrible post quakes - I'd say yes, better studs - but for the use that thing will see, standard won't be a problem.

I was looking at the same kit from Cruizinimage for a big bore kit for my bike. Does it appear to be a quality kit?
