In the group buy held here not too long ago, did anyone buy some that might be sprung to stiffly for thier taste? I bought some recently, still a good deal from Katman, but I dont think they're sprung heavy enough for my fat arse. I was interested in seeing if anyone has some they consider a bit too stiff, and would be interested in a straight up trade? Mine are more or less brand new, with maybe 3K miles on them. Clean as a whistle, no scratches or anything. If anyone has some with the YELLOW springs, and would like them with the BLACK springs, let me know...

Also, I was told that Ohlins would actually RESpring them for you for free if you found they werent right?? Is this true? Thanks in advance

TCK

I can't answer the questions but I am interested if you decide to sell them.

Well, after some reading, apparently *I* need ....480-15 or 480-16 springs...I have 480-04, which are sprung for gents under 210lbsish...
Apparently, according to a few sites, and Ohlins' site itself, they will replace the springs under warranty. However, Im not sure, since i bought these thru Katman, if I have to have any papers for warranty work, or if he has them or what. I might have something in the box they came in, i will take a peek. If they wont replace them under warranty, and my only recourse is to pay for new springs, I WILL be putting them up for sale. I already paid a BUNCH of money for these (quite a bit more than those who got in on the group buy, but less than list) and Im not going to pay MORE for springs I should have had to begin with.

Why didn't you call me??

I checked and rechecked with Ohlins and they assured me they were for 230 dudes.

I will call them and get you fixed up Josh. All you had to do was call dude.

I have the black springs....not the yellow. I'm well under 230. Buck 98.

They got it right for me... :)

I tried calling. More than once... Ive even sent you three emails and got no answer. I figured you were either out of town, or just ignoring me. I called Ohlins. They said for me to get the springs replaced, since *I* didnt buy them directly from them, I would have to pay for the springs, and pay for the work. Or, Id have to send them to you, and you would have to send them to them. So basicly that would cost me god knows how much in shipping. Plus, I wouldnt have the shocks for two? three? weeks or more? It simply wasnt worth all the hastle.

just lie, call ohlins tell them you are katman and have them sent to your house. I am sure you and Rob can work something out, I bet all ohlins has to even link the springs to a warranty is a name and address and all you need to tell them is you moved...

I am the easiest guy in the world to get a hold of. three emails and phone calls and nothing got through? That is odd....

I will get hold of them first of the week and see if I can help you out.

It's Ok Rob. Not a big deal. I actually sold em to Tom, got most of my money out of them. They simply werent doing the job, sure the dampning felt better than stock but they werent holding up in the corners, and thats a scary feeling. Not knowing what was going on with you, and im not blaming you mind you, so dont get defensive, I figured rather than let them sit on my bench, someone might find use for em, someone less gravitationally challenged than myself. If you run across another set, we'll talk, and I'll keep my eye out for some myself. But as they were, i couldnt use em, and i wasnt about to jump thru hoops to get it fixed, and damn sure wasnt paying another dime over what id paid. It was a fair price, but somehow someone misinformed you or our info got crossed and these didnt get sprung right. No real harm, no foul.

Doesn't sound like you were happy with the price. I spelled out the entire cost to you before they were purchased.
unit cost plus shipping to me including taxes, border fees and paypal fees. On top of that I had to pay exchange rate fees plus I lost money between when I paid for them and you paid for them. You told me you had to have them, so,

Because you told me you wanted them so much, to help you out I paid for them and waited some time for payment myself, and, they were the last pair Ohlins had in NOrth America and Sweden. No more.

When you say "and damn sure wasnt paying another dime over what id paid." one may infer you believe they cost you too much already.

I don't know what you sold them for but I have seen them on eBay for 900.00and twice I have been offered over 800.00 for a set if I could find them. One of those times was when I was holding them for you awaiting payment.

you should have got your money out of a now rare set of top quality shocks @ a couple hundered less than retail.

I did check with ohlins on the spring number on the phone while they were in my hand.

No Rob, I didnt say anything about not being happy with the price. If you look a few posts up, I even stated that I got them for a good deal compared to what they would have cost normally. And, again if you look at the last post I put up, I plainly stated that I am not angry with you, nor do i hold you responsible necessarily for them not having the right springs to begin with. I also said that its not really all that big of a deal to me, so honestly man there is no need to defend yourself or anything of the sort. Yes, I do wish that they had been sprung correctly, but if they told you thats what it should have been over the phone, then thats THEIR bad, not yours, not mine. In looking at their site, however, its clearly not the spring designed for us "larger than average" guys. And my comment about not paying a dime more simply states that, yes, I did pay a good chunk of money for them, and no, im not paying Ohlins another dime for the right springs, when they should have been on there for the purchase price to begin with. Like I said, I got most of my money out of them, im not salty about it, so please, dont feel the need to be so either. At some point, I will hunt up another pair and have them sprung, or go with a different shock, maybe a 145 or something i dunno. But for now, they werent working, someone else wanted them, I didnt want to deal with the hastle and everything worked out for everyone. This doesnt change anything for me as far as doing business with you or anything of the sort, of course, so long as it doesnt for you.

Make it known I am not complaining about my dealings with Katman, he's been more than gracious, knowleged and the like.
