A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

my gs850gl brake light doesnt come on when i pull the front brake ?? is it suppost 2 ?? and where is the switch i can pull it all day and still have no luck

Yeah, it's supposed to come on. There is a little mechanical switch in a black plastic housing on the bottom side of the master cylinder. These need cleaned or replaced at this age. And then there's adjusting the stupid thing. It cost about $20 to replace the switch on my 850. You may be able to recondition yours. Be prepared to catch a tiny spring and other bits when you take it off. I hope the screws aren't rusted into the master.

Good grief, I've been answering a lot of your questions. It's like a replay of when I got my 850. Not complaining, just sayin' I've been there.

lol just looked there is nothing there just a little slot and 2 holes on each side where can i find a switch at??

Any of the OEM parts dealers should be able to get it. I think BassCliff has a list in his mega-welcome. You might also consider getting one of the hydraulic switches that's built into a banjo bolt, for a few bucks more. No adjusting no cleaning, just works.

Hi,

Have a look:

Front Brake Switch Repair
(by Mr. gravity tester)

http://www.partsnmore.com sells replacement switches for $6. Unfortunately they have a $35 minimum order. But I'm sure you can find other stuff there that you need.

As Mr. Dogma mentioned,
if you'd like to replace your mechanical brake switch with a hydraulic switch (10mmx1.0 thread), here are a couple of sources:

http://www.denniskirk.com/ Goodridge Brake Light Banjo Bolt

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
