    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Man.. getting bits of tube to fit is a lot of back and forth, to and from machinery to bike......... It's beginning to take shape though.

Very very nice. You've got some great metal fab and welding skills. The header is aluminum, right? So lucky is the guy who has a TIG welder at home AND knows how to use it. :-D

Kind words, however I still haven't mastered the tig.(love hate relationship) I'm mig welding and heat treating when finished to relieve stresses. The header is a low grade automotive stainless and juuuuust thick enough to mig weld with a low setting and good fit with no gaps between parts.
 
That is a Great project! It looks great! And I just had to say that I would kill for half of that shop...lol

Thanks for the compliments guys, the little turbine went out yesterday in a customer's turbo. I run a turbo building business out of my home shop.
 
Great stuff! :-D Way beyond my experience and expertise, so I'm "lurking" here to see if I can get a glimpse of an education. It's very cool "witnessing" the rebirth of a great bike. Thanks for sharing you work!
 
Got the header fitted and tacked together..........I think I liiiiiiike it......... My original objective was to gain ground clearance. I got a full 1.5 inches over a conventional collector!!!!!!

I made sure that I have filter access as well.

I tried for equal length to the junctions as well! Got pretty close only an inch difference over 25 inches.

Riding season is here and I have a second bike now. Its a runner and promises to be fun. '84 1150 E 35,000 mi and paid U$1450. This project is going to slow down quite a bit.

You did, I thought about the pressure issue and what you said made sense. Case pressure from blowby was the problem(very tired 1150) and the oil in the turbo had to go somewhere so it went out the exhaust and onto my foot
 
Finally got some time and a little incentive to get back at it! The '84 1150 E I picked up is inspiring me to get my project complete. The 1150 is not what I want to ride full time. (heavy and NOT nimble) Started fitting rear shocks. Got the frame cut and will start with a blank slate to get the ZRX shocks mounted. (please ignore square tube it is just a support during construction)

Great job so far. What are the bolt hole to bolt hole dimensions for those ZRX shocks? You may have given me an idea for my bike.

Absolutely!! It is cosmically unjust that you should have a shop like that, so well equipped, and I have a 14x20 shop with a work bench, bench grinder, and a 90* die grinder for modding stuff. Oh well, it is a secure place for the ole girl and all my hand tools...and will have A/C soon! \\:D/
