DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Great job so far. What are the bolt hole to bolt hole dimensions for those ZRX shocks? You may have given me an idea for my bike.

ZRX1100 shocks are 14.25"
ZRX1200 shocks are 14.5"

I have the shorter ones off the 1100.

Thanks for the kind words guys. It's very encouraging and makes progress easier.

In that case:
You rock man! Your ingenuity is astounding! Keep going! Looking good! Press on toward the goal!

Easy Billy easy......... My helmet is an XL already :) I won't be able to fit it if my head gets bigger.

There's a mess of GS 1100EZ parts available close to me. Wiseco big block kit, Undercut tranny, welded crank, Complete bike included etc etc. The owner hasn't been able to finish the project in 10 years. I think I'll grab it all and sell off whatever I don't need. wheeeee

Oh geez! I thought you were talking about yourself until I saw the ten years part!
Do it.

Missed the boat:( Assumed it wouldn't sell and didn't do the deposit. DOH

Does anyone know if any of the early GSXR 1127 motors have the same header spacing as the GS1100E motor? As well, how about liquid vs air what year was the last air cooled motor?

I believe 1992 was the last year for the air/oil cooled bikes. I'm not sure what year the 1127 motor was but if it's air/oil cooled the header (and carb) spacing is the same.

The nights are getting longer, and riding in bug-free daylight is less and less at quite a fast rate. Feeling the pull of the work bench again. Anyone know if cams from 82 GS1100 E will fit 84 GS 1150E heads? I'd like to put my adjustable higher lift cams in. The motor I would like to build up will take more $ then I am willing to spend this winter. The motor in my 1150 was rebuilt before I bought it. It is quiet and pulls like a bear. The tranny gave absolutely no trouble at all even flogging it. Every part of the drivetrain behaved well. I will be parting out all the rest of the bike to help pay for the expensive build up on this project.

Anyone know fuel tank capacity on an '82 GS1100E? I need to build a fuel cell.

A fiberglass tank won't pass a safety and is actually illegal on the road in Ontario. As well, the tank has been kreemed by one of the P.O.s. Kreem and fiberglass don't go together. Lots of flaking. So I'm building a cell into the frame.

Thank you kindly. I never got to run the bike as a stock bike and therefore had no clue.

first attempt to relocate battery. Perhaps more meat and more brackets.

I like the idea. How much ground clearance will you wind up with the battery placed there?

The lowest point of the header is 3/4 to 1 inch lower than the batt and the rear of the batt is higher than the front of the batt. I think it'll work and help with the c of g.

The old Suzuki Intruders have their batterys there. But yours looks much easier to get to.

you seem to be coming along well, go get your self some monster wire for speakers to run the leads of the battery they can handle current real well. Thats what i am using. Also when doing your battery under keep in mind how hard/easy it is to remove, change out, charge acess without grounding out and try to work out those issues before your done. i have to use a 10mm wrench wraped in electrial tape every time i remove my battery, or i get the 4th of july. What did you settle on to secure the battery to the tray?
