I have determined, via all the very helpful information on this site and BikeCliffs, that my two GS850G's charging issue was a stator issue on one bike and a rectifier on the other bike. I then put the good rectifier on the bike with the good stator and am currently down to only one bike with a charging system issue. I have researched for hours on this subject and it seemed to me that buying a stator from a state side company that rebuilt them or acquired theirs from someone state side would render the best possibility of avoiding the "Chinese made stator issues". I noticed in my reading that Rick's Motorsport Electrics rebuilt stators so I decided to call them to order my parts.
I called Rick's and spoke with a very pleasant lady who answered the phone. I asked if they had any rebuilt stators that they had built for my bikes and she stated they did not but had a new one. I asked whether they had made it to which she stated that they have them made for them. I said I was trying to avoid Chinese made parts which is why I was calling them. The lady said "Oh No...our parts are definitely Not made in china. I said ok good then I ordered their "HotShot regulator and their stator.
Much to my displeasure upon opening the package, when they arrived, right on Rick's label is said one made in China and one made in Taiwan. I then called Rick's and spoke with a gentleman and explained that I had specifically asked about country of origin before ordering the parts because I did not want the parts made in China. He asked if I wanted to install the part and I told him that of course I did not want to install them. He said that I would have to send tham back and once Rick's determined that the parts were not used they would refund me the cost of my parts. I asked him if he thought I was paying for shipping their parts back at my expense to which he said yes. We went back and forth about this issue of shipping and he finally said they would send me a label for the return shipping, at their expense, to my email. Well; I guess I will continue to wait until next week for the email I am not sure will come. I have only waited a day and apparently that was not long enough to accomplish the task. I suspect I will also contact my credit card company to let them know action on this sale is eminent....
Now I am back to calling around the country to find a state side company that makes stators here while I wait for my return label and or my money returned from Rick's.

I too have "had it up to here!" with Chinese made stuff. It simply isn't up to the job most times. Don't get me wrong, it's not that it's made in China that bothers me it's that I know from too many experiences now that if something is stamped "Made in China" then it's only going to last until end of warrantee +1 day or it won't work out the box. I just bought a simple replacement part for the truck the other day, "made in China", guess what! It doesn't bloomin' fit without modification. I couldn't buy the same part made anywhere else
