    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Dyna 2000 and GS750ES

FYI, the dyna 2000 ignition does not work on the 1983 GS750ES. I was looking at installing this ignition system on my bike and have run across the following issue. The pickup plate does not fit on the bike. The factory plate uses two mounting screws (180 degrees apart) where the dyna 2000 has three slotted holes. The diameters are different (dyna 2000 plate is a larger diameter). Finally, the dyna 2000 plate is a full circle where the factory plate has a cutout to clear the pressure switch.

Pressure switch?? What kind of pressure switch would you have on a ignition breaker plate?

Dyna 2000 and GS750ES

I should have been more clear, the oil pressure switch is mounted on the block just below the crank and the factory siganl generator plate has a semi circle cutout to clear this switch.

I ordered the Dyna 2000 system for my '85 GS700. I was able to modify the signal generator plate to fit in the crank, but it wasn't easy. Also, it has to be held out, that is raised up about 3/8", so that the rotor magnet passes by the pick-ups at the right spot.

It runs OK, but it is fixed in the stock postion rather than able to be rotated as it was designed. The slotted screw mounts in the dyna plate allow for a tunable degree advance. I just drilled holes in the dyna plate at stock advance.

I plan to take the modifications I needed to make on the Dyna plate and have a new one custom machined complete with slotted mount holes and smaller diameter.
