A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Will the green 3 ohm coils work on a stock 79 1000 e? I am looking for a cheep option to make sure my bike is running coreectly before I start pumping money into it. They carbs are not adjusted correctly or synked up so I am stuck till she is back up and breathing fire again. Any and all is is appreciated. Take care.

The green coils are for electronic ignition systems. Since your bike has points, or did when new, the black coils are preferred. If you want to hedge against future upgrades you can get the green coils and run a 2 ohm ballast resistor in line, that way you can upgrade to a Dyna S ignition at a later date and you can keep the coils after you ditch the extra resistor.

How much are ther resistors and what is a fair price for a used set of green coils? I think I may be able to ppick up a set for around 60 to my door.

1 and 4 are firing fine. 2 and 3 arent fireing. When i remove the points cover the points that go to 2 and 3 were sparking pretty big at the contact patch. Could it be the points condensor gone bad?

First you'll need to measure the resistance of the 2-3 coil, on the primary and secondary sides before you pass judgement on the coil.
if your 2-3 points are sparking badly, it would make me believe the condenser has gone south...

find the problem, fix it, but don't throw money at it.

sounds like a good plan to me. I am building my "dream home" and dont have much extra cash so i am off to find a condensor. Keep the helpfull tips coming my way so I can get this beast on the road for the spring.

:dancing: :)
