    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

ok i have everything off and i am wondering how do you get the old rotor off to put on the new one. I have the black rotor that came with the ign and i need to put it on but but how do i take off the old one. Please help
does it matter that i broke the hex nut washer?
 
Loosen and remove the 14mm bolt that is threaded into the end of the crankshaft. (on top of the hex nut) Yes, you need the hex nut.

yeah i have it off the crank shaft but what do i need to do next. I cant take off the old rotor on the advanced timing plate. is that what the large hex nut is for to remove the old rotor. if so ho doi take it off now that i broke it. thanks
 
I can't quite visualize your situation, can you get a picture showing what is broken? Ray
 
What model and year GS are you trying to install a Dyna S on? Once you have removed the 14 mm machine screw from the end of the crankshaft, the aluminum nut will drop in your hands, I cant imagine how you would break it. The aluminum nut is not threaded. Its only purpose is to retain and sandwich the cam lobe and rotor. Its not much more than a keyed, hex shaped washer.

To remove the rotor and cam lobe, you must hold the advance counterweights at the full advance position which aligns the lock in slots allowing removal.

well being a un carful kid when i was doing my rebuild on the top end i slipped one of the oil rings off track and i put it ll togeather without thinking. Long story short i tried to rotate the motor with the big nut and broke it off. Stupid me i have done so many things wrong on this rebuild, i have taken the top end apart about 8 times not exagerating either. I now can change a headgasket in about 15 minutes no lie.
But any way i will try taking it off tonight thanks for the help.
 
When you put an engine back together and before installing the spark plugs, if it takes more than two fingers on an 8" wrench, something is very wrong and you should stop and locate the problem. A properly assembled engine turns over like a sewing machine.

I have come to relize that now thanks for the info, but it is about a month late. I just thought it had a lot of compression, stupid me. thanks fo rthe help
