    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I'm FINALLY getting around to fixing my GS750, and have been pricing out possible parts I may have to replace. I've already narrowed things down to something electrical, and it sounds like the charging system. I'll know after doing the electrical diagnostic test I was supposed to do six months ago :(.

The stock number for the stator in that bike is the same as for my 750. IF my stator is to blame, is this a good buy? Or is it a risk to have a stator with the extra 20% output? Should I just get my stator rewound instead?

The extra output won't hurt anything. Those particular stators are pretty decent.
 
RM stator or Ricks brand stators are both good. There is a procedure on here for rewinding your own stator if your really cash strapped.
 
^ditto. I priced all the goods locally to redo my stator and it was under $30.
 
I'm just afraid of messing something up if I were to rewind my own stator. I couldn't even wind the copper wire around a toilet paper roll for one of those "Build your own radio" kits :(.

Thanks for the advice, I'll probably buy one of these if my stator is to blame. Fortunately I'll be getting a nice check soon that will cover the price.

Onto another question though, would it be worth the money to just replace the battery, stator, and R/R to make sure that everything will finally work right? Or is that going too far?
 
It's hard to go too far, but you can accurately test all three...no need to go further than you need to.

Ricks Motorsports Electrics in NH is the way to go. I've been using his stuff for 20 years, never had a problem;)
