A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hello,

I have an 82 GSX1100 (EZ) and was thinking of deleting the mass of wiring that is associated with the ?CHECK CONTROL PANEL?

Reason is I am not using the dash and want to clear out the space for added frame bracing etc.
It seems like most wires run into the box then out again to the appro. Electrical item and then there are also feeds to the dash warning light cluster.

It appears I can bypass the box altogether (going off other diagrams).

Has anybody done this?

Cheers

Ed

I removed my console all together. I just taped off the connections where the harness branched to the console. But I am pretty sure your things aren't as simple as main was.

Hi,

I have already taped all the conenctions but the black box and loads of wires hanging about look crap and take up space.

i have begun unpicking the excess wires.

will keep you posted on what happens.

Cheers

Yea keep us posted I'm thinking of the same thing but all the wires holy ****!

Hi,

I have completed the job.

very easy as the control panel basically just piggy backs your loom.

the only important hook ups after deleting all the warning lights etc are these.

Red White to white wire for headlight (hi beam)

red yellow to yellow for head light (low beam)

red blue (brake light switches) join to white wire from tail light

brown from ignition switch to brown tailight (this is for parking light).

just trace all other wires back to source. and cut where they piggy back the loom.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Ed
PS on the upside my headlights are now brighter (when bike is not running).
