I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

So i was curious as to how i could improve upon my electrical system in any way for better performance

The stock system is hard to beat if it's working properly. One thing that's worth checking is voltage at the coils; if less than 10.5 volts do the relay mod. Other than that, I'd leave everything stock.

I am having coil malfunctions and have lookd into the dyna coils dc1-1 which can be found on Z1.

when my bike gets too hot it idles really low and starts to die which i have figured to be something electrical. I was downshifting into a parking lot and myt bike just cut off on me..

I let it sit for 30 mins to an hour and its starts up with the touch of a finger

Could be the coils. Before ordering though I'd check spark when the beast malfunctions. In case you don't know how: pull off one of the plug caps, stick in a good plug, lay the metal portion against your engine and hit the starter to spin the engine. If you see a spark, the ignition is not the problem. The symptoms you describe could also be caused by a petcock problem and/or tank venting issue resulting in fuel starvation. Best to do some homework before dropping a bunch of money on something you may not need.

Good luck.

yea i already checked the spark and so did my friend who works in the shop

def not getting a spark all the time and a weak one when it does

thanks for the instruction
:)

Electronic ignotion doesn't give better than correctly set stock but it takes less maintenance. When it goes you are stick where you are.

slot the mounting holes with a file and add timing...
good seat of the pants modification that cost ZERO.

Anyone have a link for actually doing the relay mod? my searches lead to threads talking about said mod.

the ignition plate/if you increase the amount of slot and advance the timing....more power/cost nothing but a little time.
suzuki or no other company put's max timing in there bikes when new.
all imports have to be EPA legal to get into the states and this would effect that as would richer carb settings/more flow exhaust ect..
well sound limits also are effected.

This is exactly the same thing that is happening to me. Have you tracked down your ghost yet?

Go to Basscliffs site.

I have been sitting here for a while reading on his website about everyhing I am going to be doing to my bike over the next year, but as hard as I might look I couldn't find the mod you mention. Could someone do me a huge favour and throw me a direct link to it?

Cheers

I feel like its either the coils or pickups. when they get too hot start to breakdown. so i will be running some tests on them to figure out which

Figure it out yet?
I just got a 82 GS850 and am in the process of doing too many things at once, its a mess.. A full electrical tuneup is one of em.
Would like to see any results you may have found.

Yea my pickups were shot.. I am fitting a new dyna s ignition system which will eliminate all my problems. :)

Thanks for that, I have bought the parts and have started to clean up my electrical system with the idea of making it a little more efficient. Luckily the previous owner has already done a bit and I have inherited it with all new fuse box, stator, and various other little changes. I just haven't quite gotten as far as the coil relay mod.

I was also curious about the whole timing thing that blowerbike mentioned as that is next on the list...
